The Illinois Department on Aging consults with various advisory groups to gain a clear understanding of the issues and needs of older Illinoisans.
- Elder Abuse Task Force
Professionals representing legal, banking, and social service and advocacy networks lend their expertise to help thousands of Illinois seniors who are financially abused.
- Illinois Council on Aging
The Illinois Act on Aging mandates there be a state-level advisory body to concern itself with promoting the well-being of older adults in Illinois. The Illinois Council on Aging is that advisory body. With 23 citizen members appointed by the Governor and eight legislative members appointed by General Assembly leadership, the 31-member Council advocates on behalf of older Illinoisans to the Department on Aging, the General Assembly and the Governor.
- Illinois Long-Term Care Council
The Illinois Act on Aging mandates there be a state-level advisory body to create a forum on systemic issues affecting long-term care for stakeholders, family representatives and the general public.
- Task Force on Grandparents Raising Grandchildren in Illinois
The Illinois Task Force on Grandparents Raising Grandchildren works with the Illinois Deparment on Aging to locate, assist and promote awareness of older caregivers who are currently raising their family's children.
