The Fiscal Year 2008 statistics are filled with important and useful data about the Illinois Department on Aging's Elder Abuse and Neglect Program. The data contained in the report can provide the general public with a better understanding of the problem of elder abuse, and how the Elder Abuse and Neglect Program responds to the problem. When the citizens of Illinois' communities better understand the victims of elder abuse, as well as the perpetrators, the types of abuse, and the methods employed to intervene, we will strengthen our ability to prevent abuse before it occurs and reduce these alarming statistics in the future.
