FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Jan Costello January 23, 2001 SPRINGFIELD, IL Illinois Department on Aging Director Margo E. Schreiber reminds the public that the deadline to apply for the Ms. Senior Illinois American Classic Woman of the Year Pageant is February 14, 2001. The pageant will be held at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Oakbrook Terrace on March 17, 2001. "The pageant is a wonderful way to honor the energy and vitality of older women," said Schreiber. "I encourage people to think of a special woman to honor and nominate her. Every year we are honored to have outstanding contestants from all over the state, and all bring to the pageant different attributes." Contestants must be Illinois residents 60 years of age or older. They are judged on their platform of principles, interview with judges, and talent. The contestant who is chosen as Ms. Senior Illinois American Classic Woman of the Year will go on to compete at the national level in the fall. Preliminary activities for the pageant will begin on Thursday, March 15, 2001. The entry fee for the Ms. Senior Illinois American Classic Woman of the Year event is $100, which may be obtained through sponsorships. ###
