FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Maureen Squires March 28, 2003 McHenry Woman Crowned Ms. Illinois American Classic Woman SPRINGFIELD, IL Rita A. Senn, a 60+ year-old widow from McHenry, was crowned Ms. Illinois American Classic Woman 2003 on March 22 in Oak Brook, according to Illinois Department on Aging Director Charles D. Johnson. As the winner, Senn will make appearances around the state promoting wellness, fitness and other quality-of-life issues for seniors, and encouraging them to become involved in worthwhile activities. She will also represent Illinois in the National American Classic Woman Pageant, to be held later this year in Wilmington, Delaware. Senn, a mother of six and grandmother of twelve, is an aerobics and dance instructor, and is active in community projects. She is self-employed and owns her own dance studio. Joining Senn were First Runner-Up, Veronica Potter of Wauconda; Second Runner-Up, Elsie DeWall of Freeport; and Third Runner-Up, Dora Fulth of Chicago. Other contestants who were also honored with various awards included Wanda Tappe of Quincy; Earnestine Bonner of Chicago; Eileen Demian of Plainfield; Bernice Rohrer of Huntley and Mary Gawlik of Wood Dale. The Pageant was sponsored by the Illinois Department on Aging, Mather LifeWays, Sheraton Four Points Hotel and Renaissance Healthcare. ###
