Public Hearing Scheduled for FY2003-2005 Proposed State Plan on Aging in Mt. Vernon

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Illinois Department on Aging Director Margo E. Schreiber announced today that a public hearing on the Department’s proposed Fiscal Years 2003–2005 State Plan on Aging is scheduled in Mt. Vernon on June 10, 2002, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 222 Potomac Boulevard.

A brief overview of the State Plan on Aging will be presented, and audience members will be asked to offer recommendations on how the proposed plan can better address the specific needs of senior citizens throughout Illinois.

"We want to know about needs such as income, housing, transportation, and in–home care. The information we obtain will be used to finalize this important planning document, which will serve as our ‘blueprint for action’ for the next three years," Director Schreiber said.

A draft copy of the proposed State Plan on Aging may be obtained by contacting the Illinois Department on Aging’s Senior HelpLine at 1–800–252–8966 (Voice and TTY). Written comments on the State Plan on Aging are welcome and may be submitted at the hearing or sent to the Illinois Department on Aging. Written comments must be received by the Department no later than July 5, 2002 and should be sent to the Illinois Department on Aging, 421 East Capitol Avenue #100, Springfield, Illinois, 62701-1789.
